Beginner Dancer

I really enjoy these classes. The instructor is very professional and patient, and she explains the movements in a way that makes them easy to understand, even for beginners. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the classes provide a good workout without feeling overwhelming. I find dancing a great way to stay active and learn something new.

A few things to know

A little
reassurance.

New to dance? You’re in the right place.

Behind the experience

See yourself
differently.

Dance lets us step into different moods, characters and styles — expressive and sensual, playful and confident — and discover different sides of ourselves.

At BLDA, there’s room to take the experience beyond the class, too. Come together, dress up, step into the character — and, if you feel like it, capture your dancing and the moment you created.

Learn. Dance. Explore. Make it yours.

A little style. A little self-expression.

Dress up & dance.

Part of the Ladies Solo experience is having the opportunity to dress up, step into the character of the dance and enjoy a special Final Experience together.

Our Ladies Solo program and Final Experiences are supported by DanceCLO — a Halifax-made Ballroom & Latin dancewear brand worn by dancers across Canada.

Together, we bring a little more style, creativity and inspiration into these special moments.

For regular classes, simply wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. DanceCLO clothing is never required to participate in BLDA classes or experiences.

And if you’d like to explore dancewear designed specifically for Ballroom & Latin movement, BLDA students receive an exclusive 15% benefit on selected DanceCLO pieces.

Registration & Cancellation Policy

Registration & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This policy applies to registrations for classes and programs offered by Ballroom & Latin Dance Academy (BLDA).

Registration & Payment

Submitting a registration form does not automatically confirm your place in a class or program.

After receiving your registration, BLDA will send an invoice and payment details to the email address provided during registration.

Your place is confirmed once full payment has been received.

Spaces are limited and are subject to availability.

Foundations

Foundations is an ongoing class. Registration is available in 6-week payment blocks.

Payment for a 6-week block reserves your place for that period.

Drop-in participation may be available, subject to space availability.

Dance Artistry & Full Experience

Dance Artistry and Full Experience are progressive experiences with set dates.

Registration is for the complete experience, rather than individual classes. Drop-in participation is not available for Dance Artistry or Full Experience.

Cancellations Before Your Program Begins

If you need to cancel your registration, please contact BLDA as soon as possible.

A full refund is available when cancellation is received at least 7 days before the start of your paid block or experience.

Cancellations received less than 7 days before the start date are non-refundable.

Missed Classes

Your registration reserves a place specifically for you.

Classes missed by a participant are non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be credited or carried forward to another payment block or experience.

If a class is running as scheduled and you choose not to attend, including because of personal travel concerns or weather conditions in your area, it will be treated as a missed class.

Classes Cancelled by BLDA

If BLDA cancels a scheduled class, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule it.

If the class cannot reasonably be rescheduled, BLDA will provide an appropriate credit or refund for the cancelled class.

Severe Weather, Venue Closures & Circumstances Beyond Our Control

The safety of our participants comes first.

A class may need to be cancelled or changed because of severe weather, unsafe conditions, an unexpected venue closure, or other circumstances beyond BLDA’s reasonable control.

When this happens, BLDA will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the class or, where appropriate and possible, provide an alternative arrangement.

These circumstances do not automatically qualify for a refund.

Participants will be notified of significant schedule changes or cancellations as soon as reasonably possible using the contact information provided during registration.

Final Experiences, Photos & Video

Final Experiences are part of selected BLDA programs and are designed as an opportunity to dress up, dance, enjoy what you have learned and celebrate the experience.

Photography or video may sometimes be part of the experience, but professional photography or filming is not guaranteed.

Participation in photography and video is optional. Choosing not to be photographed or filmed does not affect your ability to participate in the class or Final Experience.

Public use of identifiable photos or videos is subject to BLDA’s Privacy Policy and any applicable consent.

Arriving for Class

Please arrive on time whenever possible so that you can participate fully and avoid disrupting the class once it has begun.

Changes to Programs

Occasionally, BLDA may need to make reasonable changes to instructors, schedules, venues or program details.

If a significant change affects your registration, we will contact you using the information provided during registration.
